Clem's Place is situated on Tunnung Island which is a small remote island north of the mainland of New Hanover in the Three Island Harbour area, about three hours by speedboat from Kavieng. Ideally located amongst some of the most pristine waters PNG has to offer, these waters lay home to some of PNG best waves, diving and fishing. If your idea of fun is to be on a remote island surrounded with all your creature comforts and have the opportunity to get into some of the most beautiful water environments of PNG, then Clem's Place is the perfect place for you.
We cannot say enough about Clem's Place and the staff on hand are friendly and engaging and you will be simply amazed how this remote and isolated island will make you feel at home when actually you are so far away. Clem's Place has a uniqueness hard to describe in words and the only way to understand what that means is to experience it yourself first hand.!!
Upon your late arrival into Kavieng on a Saturday, you will be greeted by a representative and taken straight to the transfer vessel. Here you will be free to relax and enjoy dinner and your first icy cold SP lager upon your journey to Clem's Place. Your next 6 nights are then enjoyed in the beautiful Three Island Harbour area where you'll experience a fully charged water sports adventure, mixed with everything culturally this area has to offer. On your last day at Clem's Place you will have the chance for an early morning surf before departing for Lissenung Island Resort around lunchtime. Again, on the return leg to Kavieng you may get the possibility of surfing some of the southern Lavongai breaks should they be working. On arrival into Kavieng area you will return with the Lissenung Island Resort representative and taken to your accommodation for the night where dinner will be provided. Next morning is an early 4.00am start, a snack style breakfast will be provided before you depart on your airport transfer.
Situated amongst some of the most pristine waters Papua New Guinea, Clem's Place is the perfect spot for your inner waterman. Not only do these waters lay home to some of PNG's best waves but they also offer some of the best diving and fishing in the world!
Clem's Place is owned and operated by Clem & Sophie Anton and caters for up to 10 surfers at any one time in 5 bungalows. Each bungalow has been built directly facing the surf and the islands magnificent tidal lagoon. Clem's Place is home not only to its own break but is surrounded by other waves which most are within 25 - 50 minutes from the camp, depending upon what boat is used, how many people, the swell size and wind permitting.
There are plenty of waves in the area and these user friendly waves offer the chance for all levels of surfing ability to sample some outer island magic. The waves found in this area are made up of a variety of left and right handers which range from cruising hotdog waves to pitching peaks to long playful walls. Some of these waves on the right tides can even produce short sharp barrel if you take off deep enough or race down the line as the wave runs off the reef towards the passage.
Clem's Place is open all year. However, the surf season in Papua New Guinea is between November and April. Due to the remoteness of the area, packages are run from a Saturday to Sunday.

Have been readjusting to 'civilised' life since PNG. Come back gob smacked!! I can’t speak highly enough of PNG, Clem, Lavongai or any other part of my trip!! Has to be the best experience going! Honestly an amazing place and time. Surfing (perfect lefts and rights at your disposal with 1 other bloke in the line-up!)..&.Fishing from hell (32 Blue fin tuna in 26 minutes!!! --- on hand lines!!!), Snorkeling to die for (Wrecks at your door and only 40 m visibility !!!) , Dining for Royalty..(Mud Crab, Lobster, Trevally, sashimi, Mackerel steaks, mental island fruit and juices and insane vege’s and local coffee...and that magic SP draught) and the most beautiful, hospitable and welcoming people I could ever have hoped to meet. (Even the kids who had never seen ghosts B4 and their amazing schools and teachers, etc.) Ten Star accom. (All the comforts you need, running water, mozzie nets, comfy beds, magic bungalows, beer fridge, table tennis, Water hammocks). Incredible Transport (the best boatmen and craft in the world!!). I spent most of my time there just pinching myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming, and have spent a bit of time kicking myself for leaving (since getting back). AMAZING, SENSATIONAL, INCREDIBLE, UNBELIEVABLE, FABULOUS, and MORE... Many thanks for making it possible Kim. Merry Xmas from your Happiest Traveller yet I reckon..... Oh yeah, relaxing too! (Clem’s credo..CHILAX...for chill out & relax) Thinking about trading in the car for Banana Boat and a Dug out.... Many Thanks for making it all possible Tony.
