Sibon Baru (previously Bohemian Baru) is a 62ft aluminium power cat that has been designed and built to be a surf charter boat vessel in Indonesia. Sibon Baru has replaced the sailing vessel Sibon which operated in North Sumatra for well over a decade. Many of you may be familiar with Sibon when they were based in North Sumatra and in fact have been operating up there longer than any other surf charter vessel. Now with the new Sibon Baru the boy's will be based both in North Sumatra and West Sumatra and will be running surf charters to the Mentawai, Telos, Nias, Hinako Islands (Asu & Bawa), Bangkaru, Banyaks and the Simeulue Islands.
Sibon Baru's skippers, Steve Bridge and Moose Matthew have years of experience in these waters and receive the latest swell and weather forecasts daily. They will let you know the best options for surfing on any given day and put you where you want to be and the boy's also let you know when they think it may be a good idea to split and make a move to another surf spot.
Sibon Baru is a very spacious catamaran that can easily sleep 12 guests but numbers will be kept to 10 pax max unless the guests specifically request to have a larger group. The boy's also offer exclusive use of the boat to groups of 8 or more.
Depending on where the charter begins, Sibon Baru (previously Bohemian Baru) will be either based out of Padang in West Sumatra or Sibolga in North Sumatra. Some charters will depart from Padang and finish in Sibolga, alternatively some will depart from Sibolga and finish in Padang and others will start and finish in the same port. It all depends on the charter schedule and where, you the charter group want to go. This will give guests the option to surf a lot of different waves in many different locations. A charter that starts and finishes in Padang could take you surfing in the Mentawais, the Telos, Nias and the Hinakos. A charter that starts and finishes in Sibolga could take guests surfing in the Banyaks & Bangkaru, the Hinakos and Nias. Charters that start in one port and finish in the other could offer guests the opportunity to surf from the Banyaks all the way down to the Mentawais.
Sibon Baru is a 62ft catamaran, spacious, comfortable and STABLE. Catamarans don't roll from side to side like other boats. On Sibon Baru you can put a can of beer down on the table and it will stay there. This makes it much more user-friendly, especially for people who are prone to sea-sickness. Built by surfers, for surfers, with the emphasis on function and practicality, Sibon Baru gives you the room you need to enjoy yourself. It was built for the specific purpose of surf chartering. Guests sleep in twin-berth cabins (not dorm style accommodation). The saloon is light and airy with ample seating area, big screen TV, DVD player and stereo. There is plenty of power available 24 hours a day to charge the batteries for your video cameras and other gear. The boat is fully air-conditioned, has a water maker, and is equipped with all modern navigational and safety equipment as well as a satellite phone. On deck there is plenty of room to lounge around in the cockpit or under a large deck tent where you can lay back and watch the action while you rest up for your next session.

Bohemian always had a well-deserved reputation for good food and Bohemian Baru continues that tradition. Bohemian Baru's Thai chef makes sure that meals are always something to look forward too, with plenty of delicious, healthy food. The fishing is good and fresh caught fish features big on the menu. The tuna, mahi mahi or king mackerel that you may have caught that day will be on the table that night. Bohemian Baru brings in all the western food needed on charter and also load up on prawns, squid, chicken and plenty of fresh fruit and veggies from the local markets.
The Chef and first mate Ann has been in charge of the galley for 7 years now. She continues the tradition of great food. Ann cooks all the western dishes (and desserts) that you like plus a tasty assortment of her native Thai food. Good surf may be dependent on the conditions, but we guarantee you delicious, healthy food day in and day out on Bohemian Baru. The word on the boat is 'Be prepared to gain weight'.
