"Follow the Socceroos" Football World Cup Supporters Tour

Chifley Travel & Tours (CTT) will be conducting an escorted “Follow the Socceroos” Supporters Tour to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil to cheer on our Socceroos at their third successive appearance at the World Cup Finals.

The tour will follow the Socceroos for the 3 Pool Matches, with options to stay on for the Second Stage of the Finals if the Socceroos proceed. The 18 day/16 night tour, led by Australian Football Ambassador Lawrie McKinna, will be an experience of a lifetime.

“I would recommend a Mariners tour to anyone interested in the future. The food was fantastic, with a wide variety to suit the 'western' taste, as well as providing typical local cuisine for those more open to new tastes. The flight details were accurate, and the tour buses used while in China provided both comfort and reliability. The hotels used were more than adequate, the Tianjin one especially greater than the 3 Star rating suggested on the itinerary. The guide provided was one of the tour highlights, 'Charlie' being informative, comical and supportive when dealing with the locals. The apparel provided was an unexpected surprise, suited to the weather at the time, yet classy and functional, and suitable to wear to future games at home.

The chance to meet the players before the game was a real plus to this tour, the players being happy to have a chat with us supporters and willing to share their thoughts on the game and their experiences in a foreign land.

So to anyone contemplating a Mariners tour, I suggest you give it a go. I travel quite a lot, but this was my first experience of a supporter’s tour. I was hoping I would enjoy it - I found instead that this tour was one of the best experiences I have ever had, with not just the excellent organisation but the chance to be with like-minded supporters (and now new friends), as well as talking to the players you see on the field each week but rarely get a chance to meet.

As an extra bonus, the tour provides an opportunity to see the local tourist highlights- this tour to Tianjin and Beijing allowed me to see some of the wonders of the ancient past”  Lloyd – Mariner on Tour, China 2012
