South New Caledonia

Noumea is the capital city of New Caledonia. It is located in the south of New Caledonia?s main island and beautifully set around a protective harbour and picturesque bays lined with palm trees and golden sand.

The city itself is blend of multi-cultural encounters with a visible French overtone. Being the capital of New Caledonia, Noumea is a bustling cosmopolitan yet it still maintains its relaxed pacific island feel. It is both refined and down-to-earth, fashionable and laidback. You have a choice of exclusive French restaurants and local roulettes.

There is something for everyone at France in the Pacific.

Weather in South New Caledonia

New Caledonia has a sub-tropical climate. It has two distinct seasons of weather patterns, one being the warm season which starts around September to March with temperatures averaging 27 degrees Celsius. The weather is influenced by regionally predominant southeast trade winds especially in summer, from November to March, which is also the cyclone season. The second season is known as the green season which happens around April to August, which has slightly cooler temperatures of around 20-23 degrees Celsius. It is prone, like most South Pacific nations to the SE trade winds and cooler nights do prevail during this time. New Caledonia is also affected by local climatic changes due to its mountainous topography which line bays, river mouths and the coast in general.
